The foundation stone for India’s first advanced 3D chip packaging unit was laid at Infovalley in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. This facility is being hailed as a catalyst for the country’s next-generation chip technology, poised to boost advancements in Artificial Intelligence, defense, 5G, and High-Performance Computing. The unit will utilize glass substrate technology.
An investment of ₹2,000 crore will be infused into this facility. This marks a significant stride toward strengthening India’s domestic semiconductor ecosystem and furthering the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ (Self-Reliant India) vision within the realm of high-end electronics manufacturing.
The groundbreaking ceremony was held for a project undertaken by Heterogeneous Integration Packaging Solutions Private Limited—the Indian subsidiary of the US-based company, 3D Glass Solutions Inc. (3DGS).
The unit is projected to produce 70,000 glass panels, 50 million assembled units, and approximately 13,000 advanced 3DHI modules annually. Odisha stands as the only state in India where both the country’s first compound semiconductor fabrication unit and its first 3D glass substrate packaging facility are being established.
ओडिशा में भुवनेश्वर के इन्फो वैली मंे भारत की पहली उन्नत 3डी चिप पैकेजिंग यूनिट की नींव रखी गई। इसे देश की अगली पीढ़ी की चिप प्रौद्योगिकी के रूप में देखा जा रहा है, जो कृत्रिम बुद्धिमत्ता, रक्षा, 5 जी और हाई-परफाॅर्मेंस कंप्यूटिंग को बढ़ावा देगी। इस युनिट मंे ग्लास सबस्टेªट प्रौद्योगिकी का इस्तेमाल होगा।
इस यूनिट मंे 2, 000 करोड़ का निवेश किया जाएगा। यह भारत के घरेलू सेमींकडक्टर इकोसिस्टम को मजबूत करने व हाई-एंड इलेक्ट्राॅनिक्स मैन्युफैक्चरिंग के क्षेत्र में आत्मनिर्भर भारत के विजन को आगे बढ़ाने की दिशा में एक महत्वपूर्ण कदम है।
अमेरिकी कंपनी 3डी ग्लास साॅल्यूशंस इंक (3डीजीएस) की भारतीय सहायक कंपनी हेटेरोजेनस इंटीग्रेशन पैकेजिंग साॅल्यूशंस प्राइवेट लिमिटेड की परियोजना का शिलान्यास किया गया।
इस यूनिट से मालाना 70,000 ग्लास पैनल, 5 करोड़ा असेंबल्ड यूनिट्स और लगभग 13,000 एडवांस्ड 3डीएचआई माॅड्यूल्स के उत्पादन की उम्मीद है। ओडिशा देश का एकमात्र ऐसा राज्य है, जहां भारत की पहली कंपाउंड सेमीकंडक्टर फैब्रिकेशन यूनिट और पहली 3डी ग्लास सबस्टेªट पैकेजिंग सुविधा, दोनों स्थापित की जा रही है।
