The Ministry of Defence has signed an agreement worth ₹975 crore for the procurement of a device known as the ‘Trawl Assembly’ for the Army’s T-72 and T-90 tanks. Developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), this device will manifold enhance the Army’s mine-breaching capabilities on the battlefield.
This agreement was signed with Bharat Earth Movers Ltd. (BEML) and Electro Pneumatics and Hydraulics (India) Pvt. Ltd., in the presence of Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh.
The Trawl Assembly is a mine-breaching device. Its heavy steel rollers force buried mines to detonate through the application of pressure. Furthermore, its advanced magnetic system activates anti-tank mines. Operating ahead of the tank, this device creates a safe corridor, thereby enabling the convoy of military vehicles and troops following behind to traverse enemy minefields without sustaining any damage. This technology will ensure enhanced mobility and safety for tanks during military operations.
This procurement has been undertaken under the ‘Buy Indian – IDDM’ category. This signifies that the device has been entirely indigenously designed, developed, and manufactured. This project will directly boost the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector within the defence industry through the manufacturing of components and sub-assemblies.
रक्षा मंत्रालय ने सेना के टी-72 और टी-90 टैंको के लिए 975 करोड़ रुपये मंे ट्राॅल एसेंबली नामक उपकरण की खरीद का समझौता किया है। रक्षा अनुसंधान और विकास संगठन (डीआरडीओ) की ओर से विकसित यह अपकरण युद्ध के मैदान मंे सेना की बारूदी सुरंगें भेदने की क्षमता कई गुना बढ़ा देगा।
यह समझौता रक्षा सचिव राजेश कुमार सिंह की मौजदूगी में भारत अर्थ मूवर्स लि. (बीईएमएल) और इलेक्ट्रो न्यूमेटिक्स एंड हाइड्रोलिक्स (इंडिया) प्रा. लि. के साथ किया गया।
ट्राॅल एसेंबली यह एक सुरंगभेदी उपकरण है। इसमें लगे भारी स्टील रोलर जमीन में दबी सुरंगों को दबाव के जरिये फटने पर मजबूर कर देते हैं। इसका आधुनिक मैग्नेटिक सिस्टम उन एंटी-टैंक माइन को सक्रिय कर देता है। टैंक के आगे चलते हुए यह उपकरण एक सुरक्षित गलियारा तैयार करता है। इससे पीछे आ रहे सैन्य वाहनों और सैनिको का काफिला बिना नुकसान के दुश्मन के माइनफील्ड को पार कर सकता है। इस तकनीक से सैन्य अभियानों के दौरान टैंकों की गतिशीलता एवं सुरक्षा सुनिश्चित होगी।
यह खरीद बाय इंडियन-आईडीएमएम श्रेणी के अंतर्गत की गई है। इसका मतलब है कि यह पूरी तरह स्वदेशी रूप से डिजाइन, विकसित और निर्मित है। इस परियोजना से रक्षा क्षेत्र के सूक्ष्म, लघु और मध्यम उद्यमो (एमएसएमई) को कलपुजों के निर्माण के जरिये सीधे तौर पर बढ़ावा मिलेगा।
