To enhance the technological capabilities of the country’s security agencies, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has handed over ‘Pragya’—an advanced, AI-enabled satellite system—to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs. This initiative is expected to significantly bolster capabilities related to surveillance, data analysis, and rapid decision-making.
Pragya is based entirely on indigenous technology and has been developed domestically. This advanced imaging satellite system was created by the Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (CAIR), a laboratory under the DRDO. Its most significant feature is its AI-based architecture, which performs real-time data analysis to assist security agencies in making immediate decisions.
This system will enable the surveillance of sensitive regions to be conducted in a more precise and effective manner. The technology will also prove invaluable in operations related to counter-terrorism and anti-Naxalism efforts, aiding in both the planning and execution phases of such operations. The Ministry of Home Affairs and various security agencies will be able to utilize the intelligence gathered through this system to formulate strategic decisions. Ultimately, this will contribute to strengthening the intelligence infrastructure and facilitating the timely identification of potential threats.

देश की सुरक्षा एजेंसियों को तकनीकी रूप से और अधिक सक्षम बनाने के लिए रक्षा अनुसंधान और विकास संगठन (डीआरडीओ) ने एआई से लैस आधुनिक सैटेलाइट सिस्टम प्रज्ञा को केंद्रीय गृह मंत्रालय को सौंप दिया है। इसके जरिये निगरानी, विश्लेषण और त्वरित निर्णय होने की क्षमता को नई मजबूती मिलने की उम्मीद है।
प्रज्ञा पूरी तरह स्वदेशी तकनीक पर आधारित है। इसे देश में ही विकसित किया गया है। यह आधुनिक इमेजिंग सैटेलाइट सिस्टम डीआरडीओ की प्रयोगशाला सेंटर फाॅर आर्टिफिशियल इंटेलिजेंस रोबोटिक्स की ओर से तैयार किया गया है। इसकी सबसे अहम विशेषता यह है कि आर्टिफिशियल इंटेलिजेंस आधारित प्रणाली है, जो वास्तविक समय में डाटा विश्लेषण कर सुरक्षा एजेंसियों को तुरंत निर्णय लेने में मदद करती है।
इस प्रणाली से संवेदनशीला क्षेत्रों की निगरानी अधिक सटीक और प्रभावी तरीके से की जा सकेगी। आतंकवाद और नक्सलवाद से जुड़े अभियानों में भी यह तकनीक उपयोगी साबित होगी, जिससे आॅपरेशन की योजना और क्रियान्वयन दोनों में सहायता मिलेगी। इस सिस्टम से मिली जानकारी का उपयोग गृह मंत्रालय और विभिन्न सुरक्षा एजेंसियां रणनीतिक निर्णय लेने में कर सकेंगी। इससे खुफिया तंत्र को मजबूत करने और संभावित खतरों की पहचान समय रहते करने मंे मदद मिलेगी।
