Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah launched Bharat Taxi service on Thursday. This is the country’s first taxi booking service operated by cooperative societies.
It was formally launched after a successful two-month pilot operation. The profits from Bharat Taxi will go directly to the drivers associated with it. The service is planned to be expanded to all states and union territories in the next two years, while within three years it will be implemented across the country, from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and from Dwarka to Kamakhya. Currently, the service has been launched in Delhi-NCR and Gujarat. Customers can book cars, three-wheelers, and two-wheelers through it. According to the government, Bharat Taxi has been introduced as an indigenous alternative to private platforms like Uber, Ola, and Rapido in the country’s taxi booking market.
It operates on a zero-commission model.
Bharat Taxi, registered under the Multi-State Cooperative Societies Act, 2002, was established on June 6, 2025. It operates on a no-commission model for drivers, and fares are never increased, with profits distributed directly to the drivers. Launched with the support of eight major cooperative organizations, the service has already attracted over 300,000 drivers. More than 10,000 rides are completed daily in Delhi-NCR and Gujarat. Social security benefits such as health insurance, accident insurance, retirement savings, and support centers are also provided for the drivers, who are referred to as ‘Saarthis’.
केंद्रीय गृह व सहकारित मंत्री अमित शाह ने बुहस्पतिवार को भारत टैक्सी सेवा का शुभारंभ किया। यह देश की पहली टैक्सी बुकिंग सेवा है, जिसे सहकारी संस्थाएं संचालित कर रही है।
दो महीने के सफल पायलट संचालन के बाद उसकी औपचारिक शुरुआत की गई। भारत टैक्सी से होने वाला मुनाफा सीधे इससे जुड़े ड्राइवरों की मिलेगा। सेवा को अगले दो वर्षों में सभी राज्यों और केंद्रशासित प्रदेशों तक विस्तार देने की योजना है, जबकि तीन वर्षों के भीतर इसे कश्मीर से कन्याकुमारी और द्वारका से कामाख्या तक देशभर में लागू किया जाएगा। फिलहाल यह सेवा दिल्ली-एनसीआर और गुजरात में शुरू की गई है। ग्राहक इसके जरिये कार, तिपहिया और दोपहिया वाहन बुक कर सकते हैं। सरकार के अनुसार, भारत टैक्सी को देश के टैक्सी बुकिंग बाजार में मौजूद ऊबर, ओला और रैपिडो जैसे निजी मंचों के स्वदेशी विकल्प के रूप में पेश किया गया है।
यह ज़ीरो-कमीशन मॉडल पर काम करता है।
मल्टी-स्टेट कोआॅपरेटिव सोसाइटीज अधिनियम, 2002 के तहत पंजीकृत भारत टैक्सी की स्थापना 6 जून 2025 को हुई थी। इसमें ड्राइवरों से कोई कमीशन नहीं लिया जाता और किराया कभी बढ़ाया नहीं जाता, जिसमें लाभ सीधे ड्राइवरों में बांटा जाता है। आठ प्रमुख सहकारी संगठनों के सहयोग से शुरू इस सेवा से अब तक तीन लाख से अधिक ड्राइवर जुड़ चुके है। दिल्ली-एनसीआर और गुजरात में रोजना दस हजार से ज्यादा यात्राएं पूरी हो रही है। ड्राइवरों जिन्हें ‘सारथी’ कहा जाता है के लिए स्वास्थ्य बीमा, दुर्घटना बीमा, सेवानिवृत्ति बचत और सहायता केंद्र जैसी सामाजिक सुरक्षा सुविधाएं भी उपलब्ध कराई गई है।
