India ended the year with a bang, successfully test-firing the indigenously developed Pralay missile off the Odisha coast on the last day of 2022. During the test, two missiles were launched in quick succession from the same launcher. The surface-to-surface Pralay missile, with a maximum range of 500 kilometers, can carry a payload of 500 to 1,000 kilograms.
Tracking sensors at the Defence Research and Development Organisation’s (DRDO) Integrated Test Range in Chandipur and naval assets confirmed the flight path and accuracy of both missiles.
Capable of carrying multiple weapons
The indigenously developed Pralay missiles are solid-fueled, semi-ballistic missiles, meaning they fly at a lower altitude than conventional ballistic missiles and can change course during flight. They are equipped with a state-of-the-art guidance and navigation system for precise strikes.

चांदीपुर में डीआरडीओ की एकीकृत परीक्षण रेंज के टैªकिंग सेंसरांे व समुद्र ने दोनों मिसाइलों की उड़ान व सटीकता की पुष्टि की।
कई हथियार ले जाने में सक्षम
स्वदेशी प्रलय ठोस ईंधन से चलने वाली अर्द्ध-बैलिस्टिक यानी ऐसी मिसाइलें हैं, जो पारंपरिक बैलिस्टिक मिसाइलों की अपेक्षा कम ऊंचाई पर उड़ती है और उड़ान के दौरान रास्ता बदल सकती हैं। सटीक वार के लिए इसमें अत्याधुनिक मार्गदर्शन व नेविगेशन प्रणाली लगाई गई है।
