A bill to allow private participation in the nuclear energy sector was introduced in the Lok Sabha on Monday. The new bill aims to comprehensively amend the laws governing India’s civilian nuclear sector, thereby encouraging private participation and establishing a new accountability framework to address the concerns of industry stakeholders.
The bill, which also grants statutory status to the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board, is being seen as a comprehensive piece of legislation to harness India’s full nuclear energy potential. It seeks to repeal the Atomic Energy Act, 1962, and the Civil Liability for Nuclear Damage Act, 2010.
परमाणु ऊर्जा क्षेत्र में निजी भागीदारी की अनुमति देने संबंधी विधेयक सोमवार को लोकसभा में पेश किया गया। नए विधेयक का उद्देश्य भारत के नागरिक परमाणु क्षेत्र को नियंत्रित करने वाले कानूनों में व्यापक संशोधन करना है, जिससे निजी भागीदारी को बढ़ावा मिले और उद्योग भागीदारों की चिंताओं को दूर करने के लिए एक नई जवाबदेही व्यवस्था लागू हो सके।
परमाणु ऊर्जा नियामक बोर्ड को वैधानिक दर्जा विधेयक को भारत की पूर्ण परमाणु ऊर्जा क्षमता को दोहन करने के लिए व्यापक कानून के रूप में देखा जा रहा है। यह परमाणु ऊर्जा अधिनियम, 1962 और परमाणु क्षति के लिए नागरिक दायित्व अधिनियम, 2010 को निरस्त करने का प्रयास करता है।
